Venture Partner at Marin Digital Ventures

I work as a Venture Partner at Marin Digital Ventures since earlier this year.
Marin Digital Ventures is an investment firm that supports early stage digital asset companies and protocols (web3). We take a long-term, hands-on approach and truly partner with early founders to connect, build, and scale. Whether it's helping structure offerings or strategic guidance, MDV has a deep network in crypto/web3 and brings operational, engineering, and security related experience.
I currently live in Manhattan, NY as of Wednesday which is the first time I've ever lived outside of Southern California. I'm most recently from Los Angeles, CA.
I previously was the Director of Security at Gridspace for the last 2 years where I was the primary lead for security engineering, compliance, privacy, and risk. Before that I was a Software Engineer primarily working in DevOps, infrastructure, tooling, and automation. I've been in the startup space for about 7 years.
I went to UCLA for my undergrad in political science/public affairs and am currently attending Georgia Tech to get my masters in cybersecurity.
I was also an officer in the United States Army Reserves. I left the service in 2019 as a Captain.

#1 Goal:

Advice on best information security practices for yourself, your company, etc.
Help on how to get your company SOC 2, PCI-DSS, or HITRUST compliant at a small scale.
Web3 product, technology, and/or design feedback from an investor perspective.
Life lessons like how I went from being a pre-law student > Army officer > data analyst > QA engineer > software engineer > security engineer > VC and why I think that path set me up for success!
