Join us in a conversation about how startups, non-profits, and other organizations are using technology to address the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

Our speakers:

Shaina Horowitz is the Vice President of Product & Programs at Newlab, a singular community of experts and innovators applying transformative technology to help solve the world’s biggest challenges. Based in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Newlab provides the tools and community that unite and support 800+ entrepreneurs, engineers, and inventors representing over 150 companies in a variety of fields—including robotics, A.I., urban technology, and energy—and fosters collaboration and advancement across disciplines. Shaina guides the development of Studios which provide a platform for Fortune 500 companies, civic leaders, domain experts and entrepreneurs to identify challenges, design and pilot solutions, and invest in outcomes that catalyze growth and help to move companies, industries and cities into a future state. Shaina brings 10+ years of experience working at the intersection of cities, technology and innovation to her role at Newlab. Prior to joining Newlab, Shaina was a founding member of Bloomberg Associates, a first of its kind civic consultancy established by Michael R. Bloomberg to advise mayors in cities including London, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, Athens, Los Angeles and Oakland. She’s a lifelong equestrian and a devoted member of a monthly bookclub over a decade in the making.

Samir Goel is the Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Esusu, the leadinga financial technology platform that reports rental data to build tenant's credit scores while helping property owners increase revenue, lower evictions powered by differentiated data and insights. Esusu’s renter ecosystem currently covers over 500,000 rental units in 40 states across the United States.Prior to Esusu, Samir Co-Founded Transfernation, a nationally recognized non-profit that uses technology to ensure that excess food goes toward underserved communities across New York City. Transfernation has rescued over 2 million pounds of food and impacted 1.8 million lives.

Mehemed Bougsea and Joscha Raue are the Co-founders of Think-it, a global engineering collective on a mission to help innovative teams and our planet do more with less. With a focus on smart infrastructure and Tech for Good, their AI and cloud-based solutions help you lower costs, unleash data, and scale performance - so we can reach net-zero faster. Think-it is a mission-driven venture dedicated to building a collective of mindful technologists. At Think-it, problem-solvers utilize new technologies to advance humanity's development in more sustainable ways. While operating across multiple sectors such as energy, mobility, infrastructure and agriculture, Think-iteers' expertise lies in solving complex problems requiring software engineering skills in machine learning/ computer vision, cloud/ DevOps, cybersecurity and frontend/ backend engineering. Causes (amongst others):- Particular attention to women and girls' empowerment and education (e.g. SDG 5; SDG 4)- Biodiversity and ecological protection of life on land (e.g. SDG 15)- Protecting our oceans and seas (e.g. SDG 14). Mehemed is also a Member of NEXUS, BMW Foundation Responsible Leaders, Katapult.

Joscha is also the Co-founder of Kulimi e.V., a Berlin-based non-profit association on a mission to unite leaders across borders, disciplines and generations to execute projects that leverage technology to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and build a better tomorrow.
