About the Role

Aether is seeking a Director of Partnerships to develop new business relationships across the worlds of fashion, entertainment, sport, transportation, tech, and more. This newly formed role will have significant visibility within the company and will lead all aspects of evaluating and executing high-impact partnerships, including initial strategy development for 2022-2023. We’re looking for a creative thinker, a strong negotiator, and a results-driven individual who understands what makes customers fall in love with brands. You will be charged with assembling and managing a small team that focuses on growing brand equity and driving significant revenue growth. You will be responsible for creating a culture of high performance and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will be an entrepreneurial leader who can collaborate effectively with other stakeholders within the organization. This role reports to the Chief Marketing Officer.

  • Development of partnership strategy, roadmap, and KPIs that tie to broader business objectives
  • Lead all aspects of evaluation and execution from idea generation, sourcing, and negotiating large strategic partnerships across multiple arenas
  • Lead and coordinate projects across multiple internal teams within Aether (e.g. product, marketing, finance, legal) to pitch, develop and manage complex and critical strategic partnerships
  • Analyze internal and external data, as well as market and competitive trends, to inform ongoing partnership strategy and roadmap
  • Prospect all potential partners, set meetings with decision-makers, and leverage Aether’s C-suite to accelerate partner development
  • Demonstrate expertise in forecasting new partner revenue, various monetization strategies, pipeline development, and partner management
  • Development of all pitch materials
  • Develop and manage a small, diverse, and high-performing team to generate significant new revenue streams
  • Responsible for the training and ongoing development of Partnerships team
  • Develop and implement the short and long-term strategies to improve the Partnerships team’s internal operations, productivity, and performance


  • Based in or near NYC
  • 8+ years working in strategic partnerships/business development roles
  • 3+ years managing a team
  • Proven track record of scouting and sourcing revenue-driving opportunities, penetrating large global organizations, and building high-value relationships with key decision-makers
  • Broad experience with different partnership/deal models
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Desire to work on a collaborative and diverse team
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Ability to evaluate and execute smart risks
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly to influence decisions across the organization
  • Someone who embraces challenges, enjoys solving problems, and is willing to try new things
  • A strong passion for leading the fight against climate change
  • Experience working with influencers, celebrities, and other VIPs

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong relationships with decision-makers in key industries
  • Experience working at/with luxury brands
  • Knowledge of the fashion & jewelry industries, hype culture
  • Knowledge of the climate tech landscape
  • Proficient with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, Slack, Asana

Employment Type

Full-time, hybrid remote/in-office

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $120,000-$130,000 or commensurate with experience
